He's Scared, She's Scared I've been reading this book called, "He's Scared, She's Scared", which talks about people who basically have a fear of getting too close, intimacy, emotionally unavailable, whatever you want to call it. It talks about active avoiders and passive avoiders and how they are attracted to each other. I'm still not sure I buy all this emotionally unavailable stuff, but from this book, one might describe me as a passive avoider. I attract men who cheat on me, whose ex-wife is really his wife, who is gay, who is not over his ex, who just wants to use me as a baby incubator, and who is just lying through his teeth about his intentions. I don't believe I've ever had a real, honest relationship. All my relationships have been based on lies. I feel that I'm pretty open and honest. Yes, there are times I keep my thoughts to myself, but I don't blatantly lie about things when asked questions or while having a conversation. If you ask me a question, I will give you an honest answer or if I don't want to share, I will decline talking about it. I'm upfront about my intentions, I want to settle down and have a family with the right guy. I don't have one night stands. I'm looking for a serious relationship. This book says passive avoiders don't realize they are emotionally unavailable. They think they want to be intimate, but their choices of who they date are because they're instincts know they are safe and they won't have to be intimate with these people they are dating, since these people fear the same thing. My question is, if I'm a passive avoider, but don't realize it, am I just doomed forever? I'll always be with men who won't give me what I say I want? Should I just give up now? I don't buy into that passive avoider crap. The fact of the matter is that there are a ton of duds out there..
